Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Programs are changing how we build the educator workforce—and today, we’ve released the first detailed look at these programs in Texas.
Texas faces one of the most pressing teacher certification challenges in the nation, with 52% of new teachers entering classrooms uncertified this school year. While communities across the state are striving to attract and retain skilled educators, many are relying on uncertified teachers to meet staffing needs—a solution that’s neither sustainable nor ideal for student learning.
But there’s hope.
RTAPs are paving the way for high-quality, affordable teacher preparation. Through a partnership with the Houston Endowment, we are proud to release the state’s first-ever landscape analysis of RTAPs in Texas. This brief includes:
