What do you enjoy most about working at DFI?

I’m a champion of evidence-based practices and good pedagogy – so I’m thrilled to continue engaging with that work through DFI’s core value of Practice Good Pedagogy.

Describe a teacher or student who made a lasting impact in your life.

While I can think of many teachers (and students!) that influenced and inspired me over the years, one teacher that stands out is from my first semester of graduate school. I had a professor (who later became one of my faculty mentors) who taught about what learning is and how it happens. The class transformed my understanding of teaching, learning and pedagogy and ultimately shifted my entire trajectory.

What's a principle, philosophy, or quote you live by, and why?

I value finding connections. Seeking connections and commonalities helps to generate and maintain relationships, build community, and foster inclusive environments.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with loved-ones, being outside, baking, cooking-- especially elaborate and new recipes. I love my public library, traveling, science, learning new things, “living room dance parties” to 90s music, and I’ll also admit to loving the occasional reality TV show…
